Sue Wright and Catherine Hunter perform regular disease management clinics, give health promotion advice including vaccinations/immunisations and smoking cessation. Other areas of expertise include minor injuries, wound management, ear syringing, cryotherapy, phlebotomy and performing tests such as ECG’s and spirometry. They liaise with the doctors and community staff with regards to patients’ health needs.

Community Midwives

 

The Midwife has a role in preconception, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. she visits, as needed, for the first 10 days postnatally. She covers all areas of health promotion for the mother and child up to 4 weeks old.

As part of the Specialist Palliative Care Team, Macmillan Nurses work in the Community alongside the Primary Health Care Team and are available to offer advice regarding symptom control/practical issues/financial matters and also they provide emotional support to cancer patients and their families/carers. They can also be involved with patients who suffer from other life-limiting diseases.
