8:30am – 6:30pm Surgery

9:00am – 6.30pm Dispensary

Please note: From 1st November 2017, Dispensary will be closed for one hour at lunch time, between 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

We are open for consultations on alternate Mondays between 6:30pm  and 7:00pm.

You can also book a telephone consultation with a GP on alternate Mondays between 6.30pm and 7.00pm.

After 1.00pm, we are only available by telephone and the Dispensary is closed on a Thursday afternoon from 1.00pm.

Our evening clinic is at Orton Surgery.

The main surgery is at Peggy Nut Croft, Shap

Branch Surgeries are held at The Market Hall, Orton and The Health Centre, Tebay. Please see consultation times below for opening hours of these two surgeries.

Branch surgeries are primarily to provide a facility in the area for those with mobility problems or transport difficulties. We would be grateful if you could attend Shap surgery wherever possible.

Consulting Times


  • Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 12.50 pm
  • Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri 3.30 pm – 5.45 pm
  • Every Monday and every other Tuesday- telephone call consultations between 6.30pm and 7.00pm
  • Every other Monday – Appointments with Dr Woodstrover are available between 6.30pm and 7.00pm


Tuesday 10am – 11am (prescriptions only)

During the current situation of COVID-19 this will just be for prescription collection.

The prescription requests will be collected once a week between the times they are at the Surgery on the Tuesday.


  • Collecting from TebayWith effect from 30th September 2017, we know longer hold a branch surgery at Tebay.
    However, our patients will still be able to collect their medication from Tebay surgery.

    Medication will be delivered to Tebay on Tuesdays just after 11:00am.

    Please note: When we take your medication to Tebay surgery we leave it there so unfortunately, if you elect to collect your prescription from Tebay it will not be available to collect at Shap.

    Tebay opening hours are as follows:

    9:00am to 12:00pm
    15:00pm to 18:30pm

Surgery times may vary during holiday periods. The surgery is closed on public holidays and for Protected Learning Time sessions for staff training. Please see the noticeboard on the home page for current information.

When we are closed

If you need MEDICAL ATTENTION or URGENT MEDICATION when the practice is closed please dial 111 to speak with the NHS 111 service who will be able to help you. All calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
