COVID/FLU Vaccination Update – 25 September 2021

Each practice within our Primary Care Network will work with their own patient groups to deliver this vaccination programme, supported by the primary care network team alongside running their individual practices. Appointments will be either be at the vaccination centre next to Penrith Hospital or at your own practice, you will be advised of where to come when you are invited.

You may find that a friend, neighbour or relative is invited in before or after you because you are registered at different practices or have different health needs (which you may not be aware of) this is due to the very different size of practices across our PCN, staff availability at each practice and availability of vaccine and we are often given short notice of delivery dates.

Practices are currently working out their individual vaccination programmes, please bear with them whilst they undertake this work but be assured, they will commence sending out invites very soon.

We have provided some general information, below.

General Practice is going to be running four vaccination programmes over the next three months

·         Covid vaccination – 12 – 15 Year olds (At risk)

·         Covid third primary vaccination – Immunuosuppressed

·         Covid vaccination – Cohorts 1- 9 Boosters – All over 50’s or with underlying health conditions

·         Influenza vaccinations –  Eligible adults

Patients will be invited by the practice either by SMS message/letter or telephone to book into the correct clinic.

It is very important that you wait to be invited and do not phone the practices. Following the announcement on Tuesday the practices have been inundated with queries meaning that patients who need medical assistance or advice cannot get through.  Practices will contact you in stages, please wait to be contacted.

For more information please see the JCVI statement
