Volunteer Trustee – Surgery Fund Committee

Shap Medical Practice

Shap Medical Practice

At Shap Medical Practice, we are fortunate to have the support of a Surgery Fund Committee, which manages generous donations from our patients and community. These funds allow the practice to purchase additional medical equipment that cannot be funded through NHS budgets, helping us improve the services and care we provide locally.
We are currently looking for a Volunteer Trustee to join the Surgery Fund Committee.

About the Role

As a Trustee, you will work with other committee members and the Practice to review and agree how donated funds are used to benefit our patients. This typically involves meeting periodically to discuss potential purchases and ensure funds are used in ways that make a meaningful difference to patient care.

The role is voluntary and requires only a small time commitment across the year.

What the Fund Supports

Donations to the Surgery Fund are used to purchase specialist equipment that enhances patient care but is not covered by NHS funding.
Previous purchases have included:

  • Specialist asthma diagnostic equipment to support improved respiratory assessment.
  • A 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor, a portable device worn by patients that measures blood pressure. This helps clinicians diagnose hypertension and assess how well medications are working.

These investments allow us to improve diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment for our patients.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome interest from members of the local community who:

  • Are interested in supporting local healthcare
  • Can bring a thoughtful and community-focused perspective
  • Are happy to participate in occasional committee meetings
  • Want to help ensure donations are used effectively for patient benefit

No specific medical knowledge is required.

Interested?

If you would like to support your local surgery and help guide how donations are used to improve patient care, we would love to hear from you.

Please contact the Practice for more information about becoming a Volunteer Trustee for the Surgery Fund Committee.
