Repeat Prescriptions

We dispense medicines as required to all patients living more than 1 mile from the nearest chemist. If you require a repeat prescription, please contact the surgery at least 48 hours in advance. We would really appreciate it if you could call after 1pm to collect your repeat medication.

You can order medicines either by: 

1. Circling the appropriate items on the repeat prescription form and bringing it to the surgery in person, via a third party, by post, or by fax.
2. Making a written list to include your name, the medicines required and contact details.
3. Online via the link on this page

Please remember to tell us where you would like to collect your medication from - Shap, Orton or Tebay.

Requests cannot be taken by phone due to the possibility of errors.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Top tips for completing the Online Repeat Prescription Request Form

The following tips may help you to get going with ordering your repeat prescriptions through our website.

• We recommend that you register to use this system.  If you do this, the website does not rely on cookies to retain your information. It will also retain prescription information for more than 2 people and you can enter more than 20 items per person which is beneficial if you have a lot of different drugs.
• If you have not registered, make sure there is a tick in the ‘Remember my details on this computer for next time’ box. This requires ‘cookies’ to save your information. A ‘cookie’ is a small data test file downloaded onto an end user’s hard disk. It allows the website to identify the visitor, tracking a user’s return visits and click streams.
• To receive a confirmation email that your request has been sent you will need to complete your email address (and also input your email address again to confirm it is correct at the point it says ‘Confirm email’.
• Please can you select where you wish to collect your medication from – please select Shap, Orton or Tebay in the ‘Collect from’ section.
• Entering Medication - You are able to enter up to 20 separate medications on the request form for each patient. When entering the drug – the computer will try to help you find your exact medication – start typing in your drug and you will see a list of what the computer thinks that you are trying to type. Here you will see all sorts of drugs/strengths – you may have to scroll down to find yours. Click on the exact one. Unfortunately, even though the type and strength of drug is in the Drug column, the computer is expecting some information in the Strength column. In this column, just type in the strength of the drug – e.g. if you have selected in the Drug column  Prednisolone 2.5mg  then all you need to input in the strength column is 2.5.
• You can ask for an email reminder to prompt you to order your next prescription – just fill in the box –
• To make sure that your information is saved for next time, place a tick in the ‘Remember my details for next time’ box.
• You will need to click ‘Send request for patient one’ at the bottom of the page.
• If you need to order medication for patient number two, go back to the top of the page and select ‘Patient Two’.  Complete as above then click ‘Send request for patient two’ otherwise the form will not be sent us.
• Once you have done this, there will be a message in red at the top of the form which says ‘Your request has been successfully sent and the form cleared. If you elected to retain your details, the form will be automatically populated the next time you visit.’

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COLLECTING YOUR PRESCRIPTION FROM TEBAY

You may choose to collect your prescription from Tebay surgery. All you need to do is select ‘Tebay’ from the collect from box on the online order form or circle ‘Tebay’ on your white slip.

Please note : When we take your medication to Tebay surgery we leave it there so unfortunately, if you elect to collect your prescription from Tebay it will not be available to collect at Shap.

PLEASE NOTE:  MEDICATION WILL DELIVERED TO TEBAY NO EARLIER THAN 12.30PM ON WEDNESDAYS AND FRIDAYS .

Tebay opening hours are as follows:

Monday                      11.00am to 2.00pm

Tuesday                        4.00pm to 6.30pm

Wednesday               10.30am to 1.30pm

Thursday                     Closed

Friday                          11.00am to 2.00pm
